Check out the changes scheduled for County Fair

Before we know it, the 2017 Big Stone County Fair will be here!  We have a few changes and additions to this year's fair , which will be a 5 day run from July 12- 16th.

First, there will be a different twist to our livestock verification and weigh in process. This is what the schedule will look like:  Wednesday, July 12th, 7:30 am- 9:30 am-livestock verification. This year we will have a second verification time from 7 pm- 8:30 pm. Though we have two verification times this year,  all market animals need to be brought in during the morning verification for weigh-in purposes.  We will not be making any exceptions to this, so please plan now to be there in the morning if you have market animals.

The show schedule will look a little different as well to accommodate our increased numbers in specific species areas.  Wednesday, July 12th beginning at 11:30 am will be our 4-H Poultry Show, followed by the 4-H Goat show to begin at 4:30 pm.

Thursday shows include the 4-H Rabbit Show beginning at 8:30 am , followed by the Horse Show starting at 2 pm. The 4-H Swine, Sheep, Beef and Dairy shows will all happen on Friday and follow the schedule that has been used in the past.

A big shout out to the Big Stone County Fair Board, who has purchased new poultry and rabbit cages this year.

At this time, we are looking at a few minor improvements to our 4-H food stand, as well as a few other improvements we are hoping to get in this year- look for a county fair update in the May issue on what we have been doing!
