4-H Honors Recipients at Annual Awards Ceremony

Brown County 4-H families, friends, and volunteers came together on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at the Brown County REA auditorium to celebrate the achievements of the 2016-2017 4-H year. Throughout the evening, individuals, clubs, and organizations were recognized with an array of awards for their achievements and successes in 4-H projects, leadership, and involvement. All of these individual achievements and successes add to the larger success of the Brown County 4-H Program.

There were over 100 attendees that joined in on the celebration of the awards. In the 2016-2017 4-H year, we had 28 first year 4-H members, 28 five year 4-H members, and nine ten year 4-H members. We also had eight 4-H members who have been involved for 10 or more years that graduated from the Brown County 4-H program. All of these youth members benefit from the 25 adult leaders that were recognized for their dedication of service spanning from one year all the way to 30 years!

Since many times our committee members are operating behind the scenes, we brought them to the forefront during our ceremony recognizing the members of our livestock, food stand, clothing, and finance committees.

Youth involved in 4-H are very active in a variety of projects areas within the program. They are allowed the opportunity to reflect on these activities through the process of record keeping. At the awards ceremony, there were 34 youth recognized for their excellence in record keeping on their project areas such as fine arts, photography, rabbit, and flower gardening. Other areas of involvement recognized included horse, dairy, and general livestock project bowls as well as dairy judging teams.

The suspense of the night begins with the recognition of our special awards in which individuals, clubs, and organizations are nominated by our local clubs and selected by a committee to be revealed during the awards ceremony. The award winners were:
