Livestock Judging Team

The Cass County 4-H Livestock Judging team competed at the State 4-H Livestock Judging Contest this year. It was the first time for them and the first time for Cass County! The team for the state contest consisted of Austin McAllister, Brooke Swenson, Brandi McAllister, Mikayla Sauber, and Hailee Swenson. I also want to recognize Chris Foster, Ashley Foster, and Kaitlyn Hanson, who were also part of the team this year but were not able to compete at the state contest.

The kids worked hard to prepare all year and placed 20th as a team at the SDSU Little International contest earlier this year. At the state contest, they placed 11th as a team, just missing the top 10. Individually, they placed 34th (Hailee), 35th (Brandi), 40th (Austin), 46th (Brooke), and 51st (Mikayla) respectively. The contest officials all commented to me that they were extremely impressed with our youth, saying that they had a lot of talent and did an excellent job, especially for their first time at the state contest. I want to thank all of our team members for their dedication this year and always showing up to practice ready to learn. I've had a great time working with all of you and look forward to next year!
