Become a 4-H Club Evaluator

Minnesota 4-H has trained all staff to conduct Youth Program Quality Assessments (YPQA). Research tells
us youth thrive in a high quality environment and youth programs need more quality. This project is aimed
at building staff, youth and volunteer capacity to observe, measure, and coach program quality in our clubs.

PURPOSE OF 4-H QUALITY 4-H TEAM

  • To extend the capacity beyond staff to regularly use the YPQA tool and practices within the 4-H program.
  • To engage youth and adult volunteers in the YPQA process to improve program quality at the local level.
  • To explore a variety of ways youth can provide leadership in a process to improve the 4-H program
  • To design sustainable, replicable methods to focus on program quality improvement.

QUALITY 4-H TEAM MEMBERSHIP

  • 1-3 youth
  • 1-2 adults
  • Program Coordinator

TIMELINE AND EXPECTATIONS FOR THE PROJECT
The timeline for the project is December through May. Don’t let that scare you …

We are requesting you and a partner:

  • attend a training (one webinar and one Saturday)
  • conduct an observation (2 hrs)
  • score the observation (1.5 hrs)
  • facilitate a discovery meeting (2 hrs)
  • conduct a follow up observation (2 hrs)
  • score the observation (1.5 hrs)
  • if your schedule allows you can complete the process with a second club
