Get youth into the trades with TRIED AND TRUE

Tried and True is a social enterprise program of Lakes Center for Youth and Families where youth, ages 15 and older, are able to gain experience working on small engines and learn about running a small business under the supervision of a professional mechanic.

Youth will be able to participate in the program for a 12 or 18 week rotation. For the 12 week session, the shop schedule is 3:30pm-6:30pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays each week. For the 18 week session, the shop schedule is 9:00am-1:00pm on Saturdays each week.

Tried and True is an exclusive opportunity. We are looking for youth, ages 15 and older, that have a genuine desire to get into a career in the mechanical field. Selected participants will have previous experience with small engines and/or other mechanical work experience.

All youth must fill out a Tried and True Small Engines application and come in for a formal interview with the program manager. During the interview, we will determine if the applicant is a good fit for Tried & True.

If you have any questions, please contact Tried and True program manager, Matt Howard at 651-464-3685.

If you are accepted into this program, contact the Extension Office for additional 4-H resources to support your experience in the Tried and True program that can allow you to share your experience at the County Fair and potentially, the State Fair!

The Tried and True Program is not a 4-H sponsored program, it is a program run and organized through the Lakes Center for Youth and Families.
