JR FLL Robotics Teams forming for the Winter Season

Are you interested in getting involved in JR First Lego League? Contact us today to join a 4-H Robotics team for the Winter and Spring season.

What is the JR FLL Program this year?

Get pumped for the FIRST®LEGO® League Jr. 2017/2018 season. In the AQUA ADVENTURESM Challenge teams of youth will navigate the uncharted waters of this important resource. Find out where the water you use in your daily life comes from, and what happens on its way to you. Where will this current voyage carry you?

The season is composed of approximately 12-15 meetings plus a showcase event and is ideal for kids in Kindergarten through 4th grade.

What will you do?

The JR FLL season is composed of 3 parts:

1. Create a Model made of LEGO parts that fits within a 15” x 15” footprint.
• Use the LEGO WeDo 2.0 to program a motorized part
• Create a simple machine using LEGO ramps, levers, pulleys, gears, wheels and axles, screws, or wedges and incorporate this into the model.

2. Create a Show Me Poster using a flat poster board or tri-fold presentation board.
• Use words, drawings, photos, and small objects to tell about what they have learned during their research
• Show where they hunted for answers and describe the people they spoke with on their journey
• Describe their Model
• Tell about the team itself

3. Showcase your work at an event (JR FLL Expo, County Fair etc.)

How can I get involved?

Teams will be forming in January to meet in the evening and day time to accommodate public and home educated families.
Contact Jeremy Freeman the 4-H Program Coordinator to find out how you can be involved!

Cost for the program is $30/person (not including the 4-H enrollment fee of $25/person or $50 for a family which is paid separately). Scholarships are available to offset the cost if necessary.
