  • 4-H Alumni Spotlight – Christy Jackson
Town of residence: Sanborn, MN 4-H member in which county & club name: Cottonwood County - Germantown Livewires Involvement with 4-H (as youth or adult): Youth: Beef, sheep, general livestock judging, safety, food stand. Adult: Adult volunteer; club leader and General Livestock Judging Team Coach Favorite 4-H memory: Being a member of the 1985 National Western Stock Show Champion 4-H Judging Team! Advice to current 4-H youth: Apply your full self into your projects, don’t do them because your parents want you to, do them to learn about the project, and more importantly, learn about yourself, develop skills and discover where your passion lies. Current occupation: Strategic Account Manager, Zoetis Pork Family: My Parents, Wayne and Judy Pankonin; Brother, Brad; Sister, Carrie; Daughter, Carlie (Jr. SDSU), Cole, HS Sr., Jake, 5th Gr. Why do you think people should be involved in 4-H? Because of the amazing and wide variety project areas, leadership opportunities and competition, members have to explore and learn outside of traditional education. Not to mention, some of the people you meet will go on to be some of your best, life-long friends. Anything else you’d like to include: Tell your school friends that 4-H is cool, invite them to a meeting! It’s so much more than earning a ribbon; it’s about building life-long skills, meeting great people and finding your passion.
