Plan to attend Citizenship Washington Focus 2018

Thousands of young people from across the United States come to the National 4-H Youth Conference Center every summer to participate in Citizenship Washington Focus (CWF), a citizenship and leadership program held in Washington, D.C. for youth who have completed 9th grade or older.

CWF is an educational conference for high school youth to learn about the legislative branch of the United States government and build leadership and civic engagement skills.  Through a series of speakers, committee work, field trips and social events, participants learn the importance of citizenship and social responsibility and are given the opportunity to explore, develop, and refine skills needed to be an outstanding leader on both a local and national level.

Held at the National 4-H conference Center near Washington, D.C., participants will engage in workshops and simulations, tour historical landmarks, and meet with Minnesota's congressional offices, all while meeting youth from across Minnesota and the U.S.

Minnesota participants (called a delegation) will travel to Washington, DC, June 23-30, 2018.

Following this year's CWF experience, we will be studying this experience.  There is a possibility that this experience will become an every other year offering.  If you want to be assured of attending this event in the next two years, please apply for this year's experience.

Complete the CWF application and submit with $400 down payment to the Dakota County Extension Office by Jan. 29. Contact Abby Wagner at if you have questions.

This trip fills on a first come, first serve basis and close when all spaces have been filled, or by Feb. 28, whichever comes first. The cost of this experience is $1600 and can be paid in installments. A $400 deposit is required at the time of registration.
