NE Livestock Show

Northeast Livestock Show is a great opportunity for 4-H livestock participants. It is open to 4-H’ers showing swine, goats, beef, poultry, rabbits, and sheep that are in grades 3rd-13th

The first day is all about showmanship and learning. Exhibitors get the chance to take part in an educational activity about their species and show in a showmanship class. At the end of each class the judge usually goes around and talks to each of the kids about what they can improve for next year and future shows. That night 4-H’ers get to spend the night at a hotel with a water park. It is loads of fun as the kids get to meet 4-H’ers from other counties and from their own species. The second day is the conformation judging portion. The 4-H’ers are judged on the animal and how it compares to the rest of the class. There is the opportunity to get call backs and extra awards for high placings. It is a lot of fun and is described by older 4-H’ers as the “fun state fair”.  Livestock kids are eligible for the NE Livestock show if they showed their animals at the County Fair and received a blue on them.  They cannot take the same animal to the State Fair and to NE Livestock.  If you are interested in finding out more about this show, please contact our office ASAP.  This show will take place in Brainerd on September 16 & 17.
