Dog Training Schedule Announced
Love dogs? Join the Kanabec County 4-H Dog Project and get your fill of fur, friends and FUN!
Open to all enrolled 4-H members, the 4-H dog project is a great way to learn to teach your dog commands while challenging both handler and canine. Beginner dog/handler combinations will focus on obedience and showmanship skills while advanced combinations explore agility and jumpers courses. All training is conducted by experienced youth and adult volunteers.
- Kickoff Night - Monday, March 27th - 6:30pm - Kanabec County Courthouse Basement
All interested participants are invited and encouraged to attend! Trainers will be on hand to introduce participants to the dog project & training schedule, walk through the Minnesota 4-H Animal ID system, discuss required and recommended training equipment and answer questions. This session is for humans only - NO DOGS!
- Training Begins - Monday, April 10th - 5:30pm - Fairgrounds
This first session is used to allow dogs an opportunity to get acquainted with the building, other people and dogs that participate in the program. All dogs must be on leash. Parents are asked to stay for the entire session and help as needed. Cloverbuds (Youth, grades K-2) must have an adult or older youth in control of the dog at all times.
All dogs must be properly identified to participate and current on all vaccinations! Veterinarian signatures are required - families may use their veterinarian of choice OR Dr. Jennifer Aumer will also be available on the 10th, conducting a vaccination clinic for dogs needing updates.
