  • Learn about new Livestock Quality Assurance training options for 4-H animal science members

    New in 2018 – 4-H animal science members can participate in one of two options for Livestock Quality Assurance certification training: 1) Livestock Quality Assurance and Ethics (LQA&E) training, or 2) Youth for the Quality Care of Animals (YQCA) training. All youth participating as state fair 4-H livestock exhibitors must complete Livestock Quality Assurance training requirements.
  • Mark your calendars for the 2018 AKSARBEN Stock Show!

    The AKSARBEN Stock Show will be held in Grand Island, Neb. Sept. 27-30, 2018. It's open to 4-H members from Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming. In it, 4-H youth exhibit livestock, compete in quiz bowl and judging, apply for scholarships and internships to work with the AKSARBEN Stock Show.
  • 2018 Helping Hands grant applications now open!

    Helping Hands grants helps fund worthy youth development programs or projects that young people seek to pursue in partnership with supportive adults and local businesses. Grant awards are between $200 and $2,000. Applications must be postmarked or emailed by March 1.
  • Learn about scholarships available for college-bound 4-H youth

    Several scholarships are being offered for Minnesota 4-H youth pursuing post-secondary studies at accredited colleges and universities. Over $20,000 is awarded annually through a competitive application process. Visit the 4-H scholarship website to learn more and apply.
  • Are you interested in becoming a 4-H dairy goat judge?

    A 4-H dairy goat judges training is being planned for Saturday, May 19 at the Benton County Fairgrounds. Adults interested should mark their calendars now! Registration materials will be available soon -- stay tuned form more info.
  • Attend spring 2018 SS&W Leader Certification Training

    Register by April 6 for the April 21-22 training to be held at the Long Lake Conservation Center in Palisades. This training is for Minnesota 4-H adults and youth (9th grade and older) that lead or would like to lead training in shooting sports or wildlife.
  • Exploring First Lego League Jr

    Koochiching County 4-H is piloting First Lego League Jr programming for youth in grades K to 3rd in Northome in Feb-Mar and in International Falls in April-May! It’s never too early to discover STEM.
  • Thursday Threads 4-H Club - String Arts

    Youth of the International Falls area in grades 3rd to 8th are invited to join us after school as we discover a whole new world of string art.   • 4-H on Ice - Winter Fishing Event

    The Northern Lights 4-H Club is hosting a 4-H Winter Fishing Event on Sunday, March 4 from 1 to 3:30 at the Island Lake Landing. This event is open to all Koochiching County 4-H families. Pre-registration is requested to ensure that we have enough supplies for participants.

    Minnesota 4-H is now accepting applications for 2018 summer internships with 4-H programs in counties across the state. The application deadline is open until positions are filled with a preference for candidates who apply by Feb. 15.

    Winter Roundup is an exciting three day, two night conference focused on adult and youth horse project leadership and activities in the 4-H Horse Project. This year's conference is scheduled for January 19-21 at the Long Lake Conservation Center, Palisade. The early registration discount ends soon, so giddy up!

  • Plan to attend the 2018 Citizenship Washington Focus (CWF) trip to Washington DC!

    Minnesota 4-H youth in grades 9-13 are invited to strengthen their communication, leadership, and citizenship skills at a national level by attending Citizenship Washington Focus in Washington D.C. from June 23-30, 2018. Registration will open Feb. 1, and close when all spaces have been filled, or by Feb. 28, whichever comes first.
  • Announcing the 2018 4-H Engineering Design Rube Goldberg Challenge for high school youth

    Starting in 2018 the 4-H Engineering Design Rube Goldberg Challenge will include high school youth in grades 9 to one year after high school. The 2018 challenge will be to “plant a seed and water the seed”.
  • Ringing in the Giving Season

    Area 4-H Families are invited to take a turn ringing the Salvation Army Bell on Thursday, December 21 at the Kmart Store. Families may select one half hour shift (or more) between 4 and 7:30pm. The link to sign up form can be found here.

The State Top Stars 4-H club will be meeting on Tuesdays starting April 11 to learn firsthand what needs to get done to make a successful Community Service project happen! If you would like to be a True Leader in Service, register to join us by April 7.
  • LQA&E Training Locations

    All youth participating as a State Fair 4-H livestock exhibitor in beef, dairy, sheep, swine, poultry, rabbit, meat and dairy goat, and llama must have completed the Livestock Quality Assurance and Ethics workshop. Because we anticipate few participants needing this training, our county program will encourage any members that wish to receive the training to attend in neighboring counties.
