Become a Lyon County Ambassador

The Lyon County 4-H Ambassador Program is open to any 4-H member who in 6th grade or older. 

Purposes of the Ambassador Program

The purpose of the Ambassador Program is to provide 4-H youth leaders with the opportunities to:

  • Develop personal skills in leadership, organization, citizenship, and communication.
  • Promote 4-H at the county fair, during National 4-H Week, and through community events all year long.
  • Create enthusiasm and pride in 4-H among county 4-H members, leaders and parents.
  • Assist with selected county fair duties, as well as duties throughout the year.
  • Plan social and educational activities for local youth.

Specific Responsibilities to Meet the Purposes

  • Promote 4-H to the general public:
    • Volunteer for radio programs at fair
    • Make school visits during National 4-H Week
    • Participate in community events such as community fairs, parades, etc.
  • Create enthusiasm and pride in 4-H:
    • Visit neighboring clubs to share ideas, lead recreation, give a project talk, or fill whatever need there might be
  • Assist with county fair duties such as:
    • Introducing demonstrators, performing arts exhibitors
    • Helping with livestock and small animal shows
  • Plan or assist with youth leader activities, such as a retreat, lock-in or overnight, dance, workshop, etc.

Group Goals

The Ambies will:

  • Plan a successful event; one that is fun, involves lots of people and does not cause financial stress on the 4-H budget.
  • Try to meet everyone’s personal goals, as well as the group goals.
  • Plan Ambie activities; exclusively for this group to have FUN.
  • Be role models for other 4-H members.
  • Make attendance at Ambie meetings a priority
