Another Successful Year at the Fair + State Fair and Auction Reminders

THANK-YOU to all the volunteers who made our 4-H experience a positive one for youth through-out the year, for all the hands it takes to set up, oversee the process of conference judging and livestock shows, work the food stand, the dairy recognition show, the blue ribbon auction and the cleanup at the county fair; it’s long days and each day has its challenges.

What better way to learn to persevere even when the we are physically and mentally exhausted! Thank you all so much for your dedication to the next generation.

The East Otter Tail County Fair Board invites all 4-H volunteers and staff that assisted in making the county fair a successful event to an appreciation picnic on August 6th @ noon on the fairgrounds. Please RSVP to Diane Sazama (woolyacres@arvig.net) by August 1st.

State Fair

Congratulations to all the 4-Her’s earning a trip to the Great Minnesota Get Together; livestock encampment August 23-27 and non-livestock encampment 27-29. There will be a state fair meeting for all state fair 4-H participants, parents/guardians on Thursday August 10th 6:00pm at the extension office building ( 118. N. Main) New York Mills.  A supper meal will be served.  This will be a very important meeting to attend as the transportation of youth and livestock will be discussed, a brief orientation for first time state fair goers, and introduce the 4-Hers  to Holly Gudmundson the chaperone for livestock weekend as well as answer any questions or concerns.

Non-livestock projects are due August 10th, so bring your project with you to the meeting.  EOT 4-Hers still need a chaperone for the non-livestock encampment, please contact the office if you would like to chaperone.
Also, a reminder that all Blue Ribbon Auction Thank-you’s are due to the office by August 15th, please be thorough in appreciating the privilege of participating in the auction and the generosity of the bidders. Likewise, the dairy recognition thank-you’s are due to the extension office, once again, let your thank-you note reflect your gratefulness to the supporters of this program.

The best wishes to EOT 4-Hers who will be competing in the State Shoot, Sept, 8-10, looking forward to hearing a great report from all who are going. Likewise the State Horse Show is Sept. 15-18th. Enjoy your state level of participation as you learn and lead.
