October 2017 4-H Shooting Sports Update

Happy Fall!

The State Invitational has come and gone, and now we can reflect on our successes over the past year as well as what we want to accomplish in the upcoming year.  The kids had a great time and did a great job in the various disciplines that they participated in.  We also got some good feedback on our soil conservation project and know where we can improve on next year’s project.  Click this link for a complete overview of the scores from the Invitational.

We thank all of our volunteer instructors for their time and talent over the past year, and as always, encourage anyone who would like to become a volunteer instructor to join us!  Again, there will be a training course coming up in October in Alexandria for anyone who is interested, as well as another course that will be offered in the spring.  Even if you can’t attend every practice, it would be great to have more certified instructors on our team!

We have been tossing around the idea of having some “wildlife education” times during the winter, possibly once a month, so that we can get the wildlife education portion of our program taken care of earlier on.  If you have any input or ideas for this, please let one of our instructors know.  If we decide to do this, I will post the dates, times and place in the newsletter, so stay tuned.
