Market Beef ID Deadline & Weigh In

All market beef and dairy steers need to be identified by February 15.

Families still have the option of identifying their market beef and dairy steer animals online, which means that by midnight on February 15, all data must be entered on 4HOnline or the paper forms postmarked or submitted to the Extension office.

Pipestone County will have an optional market beef weigh-in on Saturday, February 3, from 9:00-11:00 AM at the Pipestone Livestock Auction Market.  Weigh in is required to be eligible for the rate of gain contest at the county fair, but it is not required to compete at the county or State Fair.  All animals that participate in the optional weigh in will have their information entered into 4HOnline by 4-H staff.

One final reminder that all market beef will need to be identified with a MN 4-H ear tag.  Ear tags will be available for purchase at weigh in but if you choose not to attend, they must be purchased prior to February 15, from the Pipestone County Extension office.

More detailed information will be sent to 4-H members enrolled in the beef project.  If you intend to exhibit market beef or dairy steers and have not yet completed your enrollment in the beef project, please visit 4HOnline to complete or update your enrollment, or contact the Extension office immediately so that the beef ID information can be sent to you.  Additional information and forms can be found on the MN 4-H website link below.
