  • Minnesota 4-H Horse Regional Meeting

    April 11, 2015

    10:00am - 12:00pm

    The Minnesota 4-H regional horse meetings are designed to provide educational opportunities to 4-H'ers and adult volunteers. It also serves as a venue to discuss best practices between counties by allowing counties to discuss their programs and find new and better ways of doing things. The meetings serve to provide a communication tool to inform 4-H members and leaders as a way to learn new changes and policies and to have an avenue to provide feedback to the State Horse PDC through their regional representatives. State PDC members, serve as the hosts of these meetings. Meetings are held on the second Saturday of October, January and April each year.

  • YELLO Registration Deadline

    Youth Exploring Leadership and Learning Outloud! (YELLO!) is an exciting and fun, citizenship and leadership conference planned and facilitated by the Minnesota 4-H State Ambassadors. The event brings together approximately 400 youth from across Minnesota and the surrounding region to listen to motivational speakers, participate in hands-on activities, engage in a service-learning project, and explore fun and educational opportunities in the region. The youth participants get the opportunity to meet other youth across the region and plan for action in their home communities through a youth-teaching-youth model.

  • Livestock Quality Assurance & Ethics Training - Morris

    All youth participating as a State Fair 4-H livestock exhibitor in beef, dairy, sheep, swine, poultry, rabbits, meat and dairy goat and lama must have completed the a Livestock Quality Assurance and Ethics workshop. Certification is required prior to county fair qualifying show and is good for three fair seasons. The level of training required is determined by the grade of the youth at the time the training takes place.

    Each livestock project has 1-2 volunteers that provide leadership within the species and organizes tasks associated with the fair for that species (i.e. checking in animals, stalling, finding show volunteers, recording names of State Fair trip winners and Auction participants). The group meets once prior to the fair and once during the fair to communicate plans, tasks, issues, etc.

    Alexandria Shooting Park, Alexandria

    The 4-H Shooting Sports & Wildlife Invitational event involves approximately 800 young people in the following areas: archery, muzzle loader, shotgun, air rifle, .22 Rifle, air pistol, silhouette fun shoot, and skill-a-thon. It culminates the year-long shooting and wildlife project. More than 16 events are awarded to 10 places.

Clubs do not need to turn their Club Budgets into the Extension Office by this date, but should have them completed in order to review and approve them at their November club meeting.
