  • 2017 Meat Goat Workshop - Rice County
    The Rice County meat goat development committee will be conducting a meat goat workshop on Saturday, January 28th from 3:30 pm to 7:00 pm at the Rice County 4-H Building in Faribault, MN at the Rice County fairgrounds.
  • GATEway Grade 3-6 Science Fair - February 25, 2017
    Students in grades 3-6, this is your chance to be a student scientist! The GATEway Science Fair will be held Saturday, February 25, 2017 from 12:30 to 4:30 PM at the Gonda Building of the Mayo Clinic. Start thinking about projects now! **This is an avenue to expand your STEM skills and get a running start on a 4-H STEM Project before your 2017 county fair.

  • Cover Crops Meeting
    If you are interested in planting cover crops this year, or just have some questions about them, join the UMN Extension at a Cover Crops Meeting coming up on March 2nd, 2017 from 1 pm to 4 pm at the Steele County Community Center. This event is free to everyone.
  • Rice and Steele Counties Crops Day
    Come and join Rice and Steele Counties for Crops Day, February 21, 2017 from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm. There is a full agenda with a lunch included, and thanks to our gracious sponsors KDHL and KRFO radio stations, the whole day is free of charge!
  • Private Pesticide Applicator Training
    Farmers with a Private Pesticide Applicator Permit that expires on March 1, 2017 need to get their permit renewed this year. There are three ways to renew or get your permit: attend a renewal workshop, take a written exam, or take an online exam.
