  • Learn about new Livestock Quality Assurance training options for 4-H animal science members

    New in 2018 – 4-H animal science members can participate in one of two options for Livestock Quality Assurance certification training: 1) Livestock Quality Assurance and Ethics (LQA&E) training, or 2) Youth for the Quality Care of Animals (YQCA) training. All youth participating as state fair 4-H livestock exhibitors must complete Livestock Quality Assurance training requirements.
  • Mark your calendars for the 2018 AKSARBEN Stock Show!

    The AKSARBEN Stock Show will be held in Grand Island, Neb. Sept. 27-30, 2018. It's open to 4-H members from Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming. In it, 4-H youth exhibit livestock, compete in quiz bowl and judging, apply for scholarships and internships to work with the AKSARBEN Stock Show.
  • 2018 Helping Hands grant applications now open!

    Helping Hands grants helps fund worthy youth development programs or projects that young people seek to pursue in partnership with supportive adults and local businesses. Grant awards are between $200 and $2,000. Applications must be postmarked or emailed by March 1.
  • Learn about scholarships available for college-bound 4-H youth

    Several scholarships are being offered for Minnesota 4-H youth pursuing post-secondary studies at accredited colleges and universities. Over $20,000 is awarded annually through a competitive application process. Visit the 4-H scholarship website to learn more and apply.
  • Are you interested in becoming a 4-H dairy goat judge?

    A 4-H dairy goat judges training is being planned for Saturday, May 19 at the Benton County Fairgrounds. Adults interested should mark their calendars now! Registration materials will be available soon -- stay tuned form more info.
  • Attend spring 2018 SS&W Leader Certification Training

    Register by April 6 for the April 21-22 training to be held at the Long Lake Conservation Center in Palisades. This training is for Minnesota 4-H adults and youth (9th grade and older) that lead or would like to lead training in shooting sports or wildlife.
  • 2018 4-H Camp

    Join us at 4-H camp this summer! Youth who have completed grades 3-6 have the chance to attend Camp Patterson in June and youth who completed grades 6 & 7 will attend Camp Omega in July.
  • 2018 Regional Leadership Outing

    Join youth from Freeborn, Mower, Steele, Rice and Waseca Counties for an escape room challenge, team building, table etiquette, and more! The day will start at the Mower County 4-H building and end in Rochester. For more details, visit our website.

    Minnesota 4-H is now accepting applications for 2018 summer internships with 4-H programs in counties across the state. The application deadline is open until positions are filled with a preference for candidates who apply by Feb. 15.

    Jerry Ludwig has been chosen as Minnesota’s 4-H Salute to Excellence Outstanding Lifetime Volunteer.

    Attention all 4-H members who enjoy taking pictures! We have a workshop coming in January that will help you learn what makes a good photo as well as teach you about the manual settings on your camera.

    Associate dean and state 4-H director Dorothy Freeman celebrates the connection between 4-H and healthy choices in young people. Two 4-H members' stories are featured and you're invited to share your own healthy living story.
  • Plan to attend the 2018 Citizenship Washington Focus (CWF) trip to Washington DC!

    Minnesota 4-H youth in grades 9-13 are invited to strengthen their communication, leadership, and citizenship skills at a national level by attending Citizenship Washington Focus in Washington D.C. from June 23-30, 2018. Registration will open Feb. 1, and close when all spaces have been filled, or by Feb. 28, whichever comes first.
  • Announcing the 2018 4-H Engineering Design Rube Goldberg Challenge for high school youth

    Starting in 2018 the 4-H Engineering Design Rube Goldberg Challenge will include high school youth in grades 9 to one year after high school. The 2018 challenge will be to “plant a seed and water the seed”.

    If you have entered a team in the regional 4-H Project Bowl contests, here’s a chance for you to practice and learn about 4-H Project Bowls. The SE Invitational Project Bowl will be held Saturday, February 17 in Byron.

  • Learn to Rope Clinic

    Are you interested in learning to rope for Western Heritage or other reasons? Here is a great opportunity to get some instruction. Participants don’t have to be registered in Western Heritage and horses are not required for this event. Participants can still gain a lot even without your horse.

    Rice County community youth ages 2 through 5th grades are invited to attend the 4-H Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 19, hosted by our 4-H Ambassadors.

    Youth in 3-8 grades are invited to attend 4-H camp this summer. If you are in 3-6, you can join others from Waseca, Steele, Freeborn, & Mower June 15-17. Grades 6-8 can attend Teen Camp June 22-24 and join even more counties! You can find details on the appropriate registration form which can be downloaded.
