Fun at the City Farm to Table Meeting

On September 29th the new county project club, “City Farm to Table” held a meeting at the County Fairgrounds food stand.  The topic of the meeting was food preservation. We learned about the most common ways of preserving food from the garden, such as drying, fermenting, freezing and canning. We made dill pickles and used hot-water bath canners to prepare them. Then we moved into pressure canning and made some carrots in a sweet sauce. There were 7 adults and 12 youth present and we had lots of fun. The next meeting will be in November and we will be making “Half the Garden Soup”. Be on the lookout for details!
