Nominate a 4-H volunteer for Salute to Excellence

Volunteers give much to the Minnesota 4-H program! Consider nominating an outstanding volunteer for a 2019 4-H Salute to Excellence Award. All nomination materials are due by Sept. 15, 2018.

Plan to attend annual volunteer training this fall

Powerful things happen for youth when they’re in a positive relationship with caring adults. The 2018 annual volunteer training, “4-H Grows Relationships,” will ready youth and adult volunteers to connect to young people in meaningful ways. Watch for dates and locations across the state this fall and plan to bring a team of youth and adult volunteers.

Card games, board games, and hands-on learning...Oh my!

Make sure your club explores these new zoonotic disease and agritourism resources being sent to every county across the state. Then enter your team into a video contest for a chance at winning a Glo-Germ lesson kit for your group - The winning team will have the chance to work with a professional videographer to re-produce their video as a commercial for national distribution!

    Remember livestock demonstration opportunities

Again in 2018 the Minnesota Livestock Breeders Association will be providing $30 cash awards to all 4-H members who complete a livestock demonstration during 4-H livestock weekend at the Minnesota State Fair. Start planning your livestock demonstration today!

These scholarships are available for college-bound 4-H youth

Two scholarships are being offered for Minnesota 4-H youth pursuing post-secondary studies at accredited colleges and universities. Over $58,000 is awarded annually through a competitive application process.

A Buzz of Learning during After School 4-H

Lowell after school 4-H members and friends learned about our most important pollinator, honeybees. Members were treated to a bit of honey in addition to learning about these social insects.

Afterschool Summer 4-H Putting Down Roots

Summer school 4-H programming is off to a great start in its first summer. Students attending summer school programs at Myers-Wilkins, Laura MacArthur, and Raleigh have the opportunity to participate in the summer 4-H session.

    Join the County Ambassador Team!

If you are in grade 6 and above, now is a great time to consider joining the County 4-H Ambassador Team. We meet monthly, either at the 4-H office or at a cool location (like in the picture), often on the last Thursday of the month.

    4-H Supports Resiliency

Have you heard about the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) study? In 1998, two doctors from Kaiser Permanente and the CDC conducted research looking at 10 types of childhood trauma.
