    Registration opens on May 19 for Youth Exploring Leadership and Learning Outloud! (YELLO!) The event is open to students who have completed grade 6 - one year past high school and will take place June 12-15 in the 4-H building at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds! Registration closes May 7.
  • Apply to be a 2018 - 2019 Minnesota 4-H State Ambassador!

    The 2018 - 2019 Minnesota 4-H State Ambassador team application process will open in mid-April. This is a fantastic leadership opportunity for youth currently in grades 10-12. Apply by May 20!

  • Raise your hand for 4-H in Minnesota

    Help us grow the next generation of true leaders—vote for Minnesota! The Raise Your Hand campaign is a nationwide call to action for alumni and friends to "Raise Your Hand" and empower our youth with the skills to lead for a lifetime. The campaign runs April 1 - May 15. Each hand raised is a vote towards a $20,000, $10,000 or $5,000 award for the three states with the most hands raised.
  • Create a video and win a $50 Visa gift card!

    The First Generation Initiative team is excited to announce a video contest to highlight the great work being done by 4-H'ers to recruit and orient folks new to 4-H! Submit your video by July 1 for a chance to win a $50 Visa gift card and have your video showcased at the state fair!

    4-H clubs, Ambassador programs and other 4-H groups are encouraged to plan service projects in April for True Leaders in Service month!

  • Help spread the word about the spring Tractor Supply Paper Clover Campaign

    Tractor Supply's spring Paper Clover Campaign will run from April 11-22. Make donations online or in stores to help raise money for 4-H programs.
  • Save the date for Supersession: A 4-H Dog Project training workshop

    This year’s workshop will take place June 15-17 and is open to youth in third grade and up, families, trainers, potential trainers, and youth and adult leaders. Registration information will be online soon.
  • Two train the trainer 4-H Dog Project leader workshops are being offered this spring

    Workshops will take place April 28-29 in Redwood Falls and May 5-6 in Wadena. This training is open to 4-H Dog Project trainers, potential trainers, high school age youth leaders and adult leaders who train in county programs. Register by April 20.
  • Gopher Dairy Camp returns in 2018!

    2018 Gopher Dairy Camp will be held June 10-12 at the University of Minnesota St. Paul campus. This camp is open to youth who have completed grades 6-9, but have not yet started 10th grade. Prior experience with dairy cattle is required. Register by May 25.

  • Attend Minnesota 4-H Livestock Judging Camp this summer!

    Livestock judging enthusiasts in grades 6-12 are invited to attend livestock judging camp June 18-20 at the University of Minnesota St. Paul campus.
  • Attend the 2018 Minnesota 4-H Swine Judges Clinic

    The swine judges training clinic is designed for those already judging county fair 4-H swine shows as well as those who would like to get started. The clinic will be held at the animal arena on the University of Minnesota St. Paul Campus on April 14. Register by April 6 to ensure your spot!
  • Learn about scholarships available for college-bound 4-H youth

    Several scholarships are being offered for Minnesota 4-H youth pursuing post-secondary studies at accredited colleges and universities. Over $20,000 is awarded annually through a competitive application process. Visit the 4-H scholarship website to learn more and apply.
  • Are you interested in becoming a 4-H dairy goat judge?

    A 4-H dairy goat judges training is planned for Saturday, May 19 at the Benton County Fairgrounds. Adults (past 4-H age eligibility) who are interested should mark their calendars and register now!
  • Learn about new Livestock Quality Assurance training options for 4-H animal science members

    New in 2018 – 4-H animal science members can participate in one of two options for Livestock Quality Assurance certification training: 1) Livestock Quality Assurance and Ethics (LQA&E) training, or 2) Youth for the Quality Care of Animals (YQCA) training. All youth participating as state fair 4-H livestock exhibitors must complete Livestock Quality Assurance training requirements.
  • Attend spring 2018 SS&W Leader Certification Training

    Register by April 6 for the April 21-22 training to be held at the Long Lake Conservation Center in Palisades. This training is for Minnesota 4-H adults and youth (9th grade and older) that lead or would like to lead training in shooting sports or wildlife.
  • Horse Project Meeting

    Please mark your calendars and plan to attend a youth Horse Project planning meeting on Tuesday, March 20th at 6:30 - 8:30 pm at the Northland Office Building in Virginia.
  • Dog Training - Virginia, MN

    Dog training registration is now open for dog training in Virginia. The next session will begin on Thursday March 22nd. The session will focus on Agility.
  • Federation Meeting

    Our next Federation meeting will be Monday, April 16 at 6:30 p.m. We will not be meeting in March.
  • Animal ID Forms Due May 15

    All 4-H members intending to exhibit beef, dairy, dog, goat, horse, lama, rabbit, sheep, swine, (Except market beef and market dairy which were due Feb. 15) in our county fair 4-H classes or any 4-H event, will need to complete the 4-H animal ID paperwork.
  • Central Area 4-H Horse Camp

    June 7-10, 2018 - Camp Shamineau near Motley Youth in grades 3+ and their families are invited. 4-H Cloverbuds are not eligible to participate.
  • Itasca / St. Louis County LQA&E

    Saturday May 5th From 1-4pm Itasca County Court House.- 123 NE 4th St. Grand Rapids, MN 55744 (Transportation will be provided)
  • Heart and Hooves

    The Heart and Hooves Clinics focus on strengthening the partnership between horse and enrolled 4-H riders grades 6+ using groundwork, obstacle course work and riding basics. These clinics offer an amazing opportunity for equestrian and equine to advance their skill level, no matter their previous experience. Clinics I & II will take place June 23-25 and Clinic III will be September 15 & 16 at the Heart and Hooves Horsemanship Arena and Obstacle Course in Deer River, MN. The $400 fee for Clinics I & II and $250 for Clinic II includes meals and camping onsite is available.
  • Laurance Kleven Memorial Scholarship

    The St. Louis County Agricultural Fair Association (SLCAFA) is a non-profit organization, and is comprised of individuals living in North St. Louis County who are involved in agriculture.

  • Mark your calendars for the 2018 AKSARBEN Stock Show!

    The AKSARBEN Stock Show will be held in Grand Island, Neb. Sept. 27-30, 2018. It's open to 4-H members from Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming. In it, 4-H youth exhibit livestock, compete in quiz bowl and judging, apply for scholarships and internships to work with the AKSARBEN Stock Show.
  • 2018 Helping Hands grant applications now open!

    Helping Hands grants helps fund worthy youth development programs or projects that young people seek to pursue in partnership with supportive adults and local businesses. Grant awards are between $200 and $2,000. Applications must be postmarked or emailed by March 1.

  • Trail and Showmanship Clinic with Darleen Gargano and Kelly Manner

    Are you ready to take your Trail Class and Showmanship knowledge to the next level? AQHA competitors Darleen Gargano adn Kelly manner are offering their expertise to Itasca and North St Louis County 4-H'ers in a one-day clinic free of charge. Open to enrolled 4-H'ers grades 3+, this clinic will take place on Sunday, May 6th from 8am-4pm at the Swan River Pastures in Bovey, MN.   • Horse Gaming Clinic

    Enrolled 4-H members grades 3+ can come and learn gaming techniques at this clinic with Bambi Egle and Tammy Hofsommer on July 21-22, 2018 at the Itasca County Fairgrounds.     Minnesota 4-H is now accepting applications for 2018 summer internships with 4-H programs in counties across the state. The application deadline is open until positions are filled with a preference for candidates who apply by Feb. 15.
