Itasca County Profile

Itasca County is located in the north central part of the State of Minnesota, between 47 & 48 degrees latitude and 93 & 94 degrees longitude. Itasca County is Minnesota's 3rd largest county with 1,856,00 acres, 10% of which is water. There are approximately 2,450 square miles. Itasca County is a plateau at the head of the Mississippi River Valley, with an average elevation of about 1250 feet above sea level. It has over 1,000 lakes and is famous for its picturesque lakes, hills and forests. Population in 1997 was 43,337. In 2010 the population is projected to be 42,920. Itasca County has 16,655 housholds compared to the state of 1,809,628 households. The Per Capita Personal Income in 1966 was $17,530. In 1977 the number of firms in Itasca County for all industries was 1,288. The average monthly employment was 14,579 for total wages of $367,995,371 with an average weekly wage of $485.41.

Itasca County Land Atlas & Plat Books

Itasca County plat books can be purchased from the Itasca County Auditor's Office, 123 NE 4 St., Grand Rapids (218)327-2860. Cost of the plat book is $35.00 and the current edition is 2008. Also available is a CD with the same information as the plat book. Cost of the CD is $35.00. Pages cannot be printed it is read only. Should you need a plat book or CD mailed, you would need to send a check made payable to Itasca County Auditor/Treasurer in the amount of $35.00 plus $5.00 for handling & postage. Mail it to the Itasca County Auditor/Treasurer's Office, 123 NE 4 St, Grand Rapids, MN 55744-2659.
