Itasca County is Minnesota's 3rd largest county with 1,856,00 acres, 10% of which is water. There are approximately 2,450 square miles. Itasca County is a plateau at the head of the Mississippi River Valley, with an average elevation of about 1250 feet above sea level. It has over 1,000 lakes and is famous for its picturesque lakes, hills and forests.
Population in 1997 was 43,337. In 2010 the population is projected to be 42,920.
Itasca County has 16,655 housholds compared to the state of 1,809,628 households.
The Per Capita Personal Income in 1966 was $17,530. In 1977 the number of firms in Itasca County for all industries was 1,288.
