4-H Competitive Events: Deadlines, Consequences, and Exemptions Table

The exemption is only applicable for a seven day window following each deadline (February 15 for market beef and dairy steers, May 1 for enrolling in 4-H, May 15 for all other animals, and the May deadline for Fair Registration).  Each 4-H'er is only granted one exemption through out their entire 4-H career, so we as staff, encourage you to really weigh the situation before deciding to use the exemption, especially for younger members.  Beyond the 7 day window following a deadline, eligibility is still granted to participate in the county fair, but awards are capped at a blue ribbon.  The exception to this eligibility is the Pride Auction, late ID's and late Fair Registration will NOT be eligible to be a part of the Pride Auction.

Please check out the table under the 'downloads' section of our website.  If you have further questions, please contact the Extension Office.
