Horse Training

A few months ago, we posted on our Facebook page alluding to the fact that together with the Horse PDC, we are looking at changing the horse training format for this year and asking for dates that would/would not work for horse project members.  While people shared and ‘liked’ the post, no one actually answered the question so here are the details:

• For whatever reason, we’ve seen a decline in the number of kids attending the weekly horse training sessions, we’re assuming it’s a schedule conflict.  So for this year, we thought it would be great to do a weekend long training (as opposed to the weekly weeknight trainings).

• So here’s our tentative plan:  we’ll bring in some really good clinicians to help you!
         Saturday would be pleasure
          Sunday games
              *  You could pick the area(s) you want to work on and wouldn’t have to be there the whole time
              *  When we say bring in clinicians we’re talking good ones with lots of experience!

• Still the question remains to be answered, what dates work best for you?  In the coming weeks, all enrolled 4-H members who have selected the horse project as one of their areas of interest will receive a survey in their inbox.  This is going to help us narrow down and set a date for this awesome clinic as well as let us know who is all interested.  Answering the survey is not a registration, which will come later—once we have some more details hammered out.  We will open this opportunity up to other counties as well but want to make sure we have room for our own first.

If you have further questions or suggestions regarding the horse project or horse training, please contact either Virginia at the office (phone: 218-631-7623 or email: or Ashley Koning.
