Upcoming Opportunities

  • Minnesota 4-H is now seeking delegates for the 2019 National 4-H Conference!  To apply, youth must be at least 15 years old and a sophomore in high school by January 1, 2019.  The conference takes place April 5-11 in Chevy Chase, Maryland.  Applications and references are due by November 16.  More information is available here:  Applications can be found in the 2019 National 4-H Conference article on our website or you can email Virginia for the link.

  • Becker, East Otter Tail, Hubbard, and Wadena counties have joined together again to offer a great winter opportunity for our older youth—specifically those looking to take on leadership roles through the ambassador program.  We will be offering a 4-H Ambassador Retreat on Inspiration Point January 11-12 (beginning afterschool).  There will be teambuilding, food, sledding, skating, and fun in addition to learning some great new leadership skills!  Full information on this retreat will be released sometime this month; enrolled youth in grades 7+, watch your mailboxes!

  • Youth in grades 7+ are invited to join other 4-H youth leaders for an evening on snow tubing on Detroit Mountain on Thursday, December 20th.  Kids from Becker, East Ottertail, Hubbard, Wadena, West Otter Tail Counties and White Earth Nation will join together to do some leadership activities, community service, and HAVE FUN and free time, tubing down the mountain.  This is just a ‘heads up’ so you can mark your calendars but in December, you will need to preregister so that we can plan to increase our liability insurance for those that plan to attend (as required by our risk management policy).

  • Time to reenroll is NOW!  Reenrollment incentives were renewed in September which means, they’re still in place!!  Don’t remember what reenrollment incentives are?  The club with the most reenrollment (based on percentage, to be fair!) by the end of November will earn a $150 gift card for the club to spend on something fun—a pizza party, an outing, etc.  All independent members who reenroll by the end of November will have your family name put into a drawing, the winner will receive some new 4-H gear!  All those who enroll during the month of December (regardless of club status) will be entered into a drawing to earn some 4-H gear as well.  We currently have 119 youth enrolled/reenrolled in our program, let’s see if we can get to 200 by the end of November!
