Shooting Sports DNR Training

Hooley Hall located on the Washington County Fairgrounds, 12300 North 40th Street, Lake Elmo

Explore firearms safety and the importance of conserving Minnesota's natural resources. Learn the safe use of air pistols, air rifles, .22 cal. rifles, shotguns, black-powder guns and archery. Wildlife education may include environmental awareness talks, a trip to forest resource centers, floods and natural disaster clean-up, or canoe trips to explore topography changes. There are age requirements for DNR training (Age 11 by the first day of class).  Also 4-H'ers must be in 7th grade or above to participate in .22 Rifle, Trapshooting and Black Powder.

Winter sessions are held at Hooley Hall on the Washington County Fairgrounds from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. beginning in February through March.

Spring sessions are also held at Hooley Hall or the Stillwater Government Center (April 15th only). This is the DNR Firearm Safety Class that runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. April 8 through May 17.

Summer sessions are held at the Maple Island Hunt Club in Marine on St. Croix, MN. Mid-June through August.

State Shoot will be held Sept. 5-7 in Alexandria.
