  • Workshops address low milk prices and robotics
With milk prices in a slump, dairy farmers are finding it more challenging to turn a profit. In addition, attention continues to grow on the move to robotics. What makes economic sense during these economic times? UMN Extension has organized workshops to take place in Rushford on February 14th and in Plainview on the 15th to address these questions through presentations from Extension Educators and panels of local dairy professionals.
  • Local Foods College 2017 launches January 24th
This interactive distance learning opportunity supports gardeners and farmers interested in community-based food systems
  • Rotating alfalfa to corn? Tactics to maximize rotational benefits
First and second-year corn following alfalfa usually have increased yield, reduced or eliminated nitrogen requirement from fertilizer or manure, and reduced pest pressure. Successful termination of alfalfa is essential to fully realize these benefits.
