Livestock Quality Assurance and Ethics certification
All youth, 6th grade and above, participating at the Winona County Fair and Minnesota State Fair as 4-H livestock exhibitors in beef, dairy, lama, sheep, swine, poultry, rabbits, or goats must have completed a Livestock Quality Assurance and Ethics workshop.
Level I of LQA&E promotes positive production and how to be a responsible producer at all times. Activities include: learning about proper injection sites, proper facilities, proper nutrition, reading and following labels, ethics, and more.
Level II builds on the concepts of Level I and to provide activities in Level II that will apply ethical principles and best management practices to produce safe and wholesome food, Be aware of the current issues in livestock production that impact quality, explore non-exhibiting aspects of the project, and to apply critical thinking and decision making skills to moral and ethical dilemmas.
