4-H in Wright County

  • Re-Enrollment Continues
Each year, 4-H families must re-enroll both youth members and adult volunteers. The process is quick and easy; even families with multiple members should be done in ten minutes or less.
  • National 4-H Week
It’s time to celebrate National 4-H Week, which is October 1-7 this year! We hope you have been working with your club to come up with some fun ideas to celebrate and share 4-H with others.
  • Club Officer Training
Presidents, Vice-Presidents, Secretaries, and Treasurers are required to attend Officers’ Training each year. All other officers are encouraged to attend, as well. At this event, officers will learn valuable leadership skills and gain a better understanding of their duties for the new 4-H year. They’ll learn a little more about Wright County 4-H, too, plus it’s a lot of fun!
  • Club Chartering
As we move into to fall, we end one 4-H year to begin another. With that comes annual planning and officer transitions as well as enrollment. Also, each club must complete their annual charter documents. Changes have been made to the document this year to make this process easier for Key Leaders. Your clubs’ Key Leader should have received their charter documents and can contact Justin Crowley with any questions.
  • Federation October Meeting
At the October meeting, the Advisory Council will lead the process for approving the new budget for the year. We will also be previewing project bowl for the next year. If you are interested in joining a team, please come to learn more and have fun testing your knowledge with fellow 4-Hers. We hope you can make it!
  • Exchange Meeting
The Exchange Program is where 4-Hers plan a out of state trip to learn about different states and cultures. The October meeting will focus on larger details - where the trip will go and the fundraisers we might need to complete. The next meeting dates will also be shared.
  • Awards Committee Meeting
We are looking for volunteers interested in helping plan the 2017 Awards Banquet! The next meeting will be at 6:30 pm on October 23 (before Federation).
  • Project Bowl Practices Kick Off Soon!
The second-largest-attended event during the 4-H year is the Project Bowl competition. Patterned after the golden-oldie television show "College Bowl", it challenges teams of three to six youth in their knowledge of certain 4-H project areas. Currently there are several different bowls in Wright County: Dairy, Dog, Horse, Poultry, Rabbit, and Wildlife. General livestock and llama teams could also be started if you are interested. Please encourage your members to join a project bowl team this fall! Members do NOT need to own an animal or have any prior experience to participate. If you are interested in helping coach or are a member who would like to join a team, please contact the Extension Office today for more information!
  • Message from Dorothy: Let’s celebrate the impact of 4-H
Associate dean and state 4-H director Dorothy Freeman invites you to celebrate your 4-H story during National 4-H Week, Oct. 1 - 7, 2017.
  • It’s time to re-enroll!
Re-enrollment for 4-H members and adult volunteers is open. The volunteer re-enrollment period is Sept. 16 - Oct. 31. And remember, starting this fall, 4-H volunteer enrollment will last for three years.
