All central region 4-H poultry project members are invited to a workshop with poultry and pigeon instructors Mike Kutzke and Shane Smeby of Crow River Quail Farm.
With a mix of lecture and audience participation, you will learn showmanship tips and what to expect during the judging process.
You will learn more about Coturnix quail, a great dual-purpose poultry option because they don't require much space, are relatively quiet and reach maturity very quickly. Crow River Quail Farm will give an introduction to raising quail, where you will learn about the different types of quail and the basics of raising them. You will see examples of the equipment and supplies needed and newly hatched quail chicks you can hold.
This workshop will also cover pigeons/doves, chickens, ducks, geese and turkeys.
Birds will be provided.
