Belonging and creating a welcoming environment is core to every 4-H program. All 4-H volunteers are invited to participate in a two-part series on fostering a welcoming environment in local programs.
This volunteer training will use videos, small group discussions, and games to cover identity and bias and how they contribute to creating belonging.
Two modules, each lasting 90 minutes, will be offered virtually on Tuesdays, April 16 and 30, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Session one on April 16 will cover identity and belonging, and session two on April 30 will cover topics of bias and belonging.
Volunteers may participate in one or both of the free sessions. Those who participate in both free sessions will receive a $25 Target gift card.
Zoom information will be sent after registration.
The creating belonging series aims to raise awareness of acceptance, awareness and identity among county-based volunteers and educators. Through interactive activities and group discussions, participants—both educators and volunteers—will learn how to make authentic connections and develop intentional relationships with youth and their families.
