Imholte Farms
Imholte Farms was started in 1880 by John and Anna Imholte. The farm has passed through Leo and Alma, Alfred and Mary, and Mark and Lila Imholte. The Imholte farm has been designated as a Century Farm. Through the years, the farm has evolved from hogs, cattle, sheep, chickens, and grains to strictly crop production. Today, the farm legacy is operated by Matt and Ross Imholte.
The family grows corn, soybeans, seed corn, rye, kidney beans and green beans. Products are delivered to local elevators or canneries. Most of the land is irrigated.
Matt and Ross Imholte take care of the day-to-day farm operations of grain marketing, equipment maintenance and purchasing. They also haul grain to market, plant, spray, combine, and irrigate. Their mom, Lila, takes care of the books, is the parts runner, and unloads grain during harvest. Matt and Ross’ sister, Stephanie Imholte Gruenes and her husband, Joe Gruenes, are not involved in the farming operation.
The Imholtes are involved in many agriculture and community organizations including the Minnesota Corn Growers Association, Central Minnesota Irrigators, Irrigators Association of Minnesota, the Clear Lake Fire Department, the Clear Lake Township Board, the Clear Lake Lions Club, and Clear Lake Lioness Club.
