County Fair

Time for the big reveal! In honor of the 125th Wadena County Fair this year, our theme will be: ‘4-H A Timeless Tradition’  We’re going for a classic vintage feel and loving the way that the t-shirt design came out, check it out:

These shirts are available for order (however the club and independent family who sell the most fruit (in boxes/member) will win theirs for free!

All orders and money for shirts will be due by April 18th.  Like most things, it works best for these orders to come in as club orders.  Order forms will not be put up for these until after our final fruit order has been sent to MinnTex so that the club who wins them as the incentive prize knows before ordering.

Other Fair related news, there was a survey out in February to help us determine the fair schedule now that the fair will go through Sunday.  It was voted to keep things the same.  So at the end of this Clover Update you will find   what the tentative fair schedule will look like for this year, there may still be some things tweaked (state fair meetings, public fashion revue, etc.) but the show schedule should be accurate.

Fair Facts

  • Project selections are a ‘thing’ again!  Fairentry and 4-H Online are becoming more and more integrated which means you MUST be enrolled in a project area in 4-H Online in order to register/bring that project to the fair!  We are bringing back the drop/add deadline (which will be May 1) so between now and May, take some time to check out your profile in 4-H Online and make sure that you have selected any project areas that you might possibly bring a 4-H project in to the fair.  When in doubt, it’s better to have too many and not bring than not enough.  If you have any questions, please contact the Extension Office.
  • Judges Assistants are needed at the Fair!  Each club should assign 2 older youth or adults to work a couple of hours on Entry Day helping judges clear projects off of tables and completing miscellaneous tasks that keep the judging process flowing smoothly.  If clubs don’t make sure to find volunteers for this, they will be assigned as the fair gets closer.
