Take time to review these important livestock tips from Dr. Jost

Dr. Kathleen Jost of H and H Veterinary Clinic of Benson presented on using the correct identification for livestock during the March 4-H Federation meeting held in Clinton.

Dr. Jost shared with the families types of identification, when to identify and reasoning for identification and tests due to livestock diseases.  She also shared some helpful tips on de-horning, ear notching, and tattooing. All affidavits with the correct information and identification numbers must be turned into the Extension Office or entered in 4HOnline by May 15th.  There will be no forms accepted with pending registration this year. All livestock brought to the fair whether it is a companion animal or goat kids, must be identified on the affidavit with the correct identification.

A helpful tips sheet for livestock will be sent to families within the next few weeks.
