Heart and Hooves

The Heart and Hooves Clinics focus on strengthening the partnership between horse and rider using groundwork, obstacle course work and riding basics.  These clinics offer an amazing opportunity for equestrian and equine to advance their skill level, no matter their previous experience.

Who: Enrolled 4-H members grades 6+.  There are only 15 participant openings.  Sign up now!  Younger members may audit ($30 fee) the clinic - a chaperone is required for those under 14.

When:  Clinic I & II- June 23-25, 2018.  Clinic III- September 15 & 16, 2018 (Must have completed Clinic 1&2).  Camping on grounds is available for those chaperoned by a parent/guardian.

Where: Deer River, MN.  

CostClinic I & II- $400 includes 3 days with clinician Michelle Jerry, 3 breakfasts, 3 lunches, 2 dinners and evening treats at the campfire.  Clinic III- $250 includes 2 days with clinician Michelle Jerry, 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, 1 dinner and evening treats at the campfire. A returnable $20 stall deposit is required for all clinics.

REGISTRATION REQUIRED:  Go to to register or complete a paper registration form below. There is also a registration packet available below that must be submitted (can be emailed to or Fee must be rec’d for registration to be complete. Submit registration to 4-H office.

Registration closes Friday, June 1 for Clinics I & II and September 7 for Clinic III – sooner if session fills

MUST BRING:  rope halter (NOT webbing), Stick & String, 14 ft. rope lunge line/lead rope, saddle/bridle, helmet, water bottle, cowboy/firm boots, hay/feed, manure fork. Optional: sport boots for horse.  You may order halter, lead rope, stick & string from H & H – see packet. Camper/equipment if you stay overnight on grounds.
MEALS:  B’fast, lunch, and Sat & Sun dinner provided.  Bring snacks you may want and water bottle.
