2018 Winter Dairy Series

The University of Minnesota Extension and Minnesota Dairy Initiatives is again offering a Winter Dairy Series program.  There will be three sessions, one in January, February and March.

January 15, 2018. - University of Minnesota Extension, Minnesota Dairy Initiative and Midwest Dairy Association will host a free, Dairy-focused educational event and meeting of Midwest Dairy Association in Montgomery on January 15, 2018. Dairy producers throughout Southern Minnesota are invited to attend.

This combined meeting and educational seminar will be held at 12:00 pm, Monday January15, 2018 at the Montgomery American Legion Post 79, 102 Elm Ave. SW, Montgomery, MN. The event includes a free lunch and will run until 3:00 pm. Shannon Seifert of Midwest Dairy Association, will speak on “Everyone is talking about Dairy. Are you at the Table- a look at today’s consumer trends.”  Megan Roberts, UMN Extension Ag Business Management Educator will discuss, “Meaningful Conversations at the Kitchen Table: Talking Transition Planning” and the role of communication in the farm business. Producers will have the opportunity to participate in the Midwest Dairy Association District 15 promotion update.

Join us for a conversation about how dairy farmers can come to the table and have conversation alongside the dairy consumer. With ever changing needs of the consumer, and information sources consumers rely on, the dairy industry is shifting the approach to consumer first education.  This is an opportunity to bring consumers on a journey with dairy farmers and engage them in how they want to package, consume and prepare wholesome dairy products.  “With the new Undeniably Dairy Campaign, we are able to highlight everything that is great about dairy: from the people, the cows, health benefits and the experience of enjoying all things dairy” says, Shannon Seifert of Midwest Dairy Association, “my talk will help dairy farmers understand the consumer demands in today’s marketplace.”

Pre-registration is not necessary, but is appreciated for a meal count. Please contact Colleen Carlson, Extension Educator for Carver and Scott Counties at 952.492.5386.
