Message from Jennifer: It is my honor to serve

Interim 4-H State Leader Jennifer A. Skuza reflects on her long history with 4-H and University of Minnesota Extension. She invites 4-H youth, families and volunteers to connect with her at the Minnesota State Fair.

Get the app! 4-H at the Minnesota State Fair

If you're going to the state fair, don't forget to download the NEW 4-H at the Minnesota State Fair app! You'll be able to find everything 4-H at the fair, keep up with judging results and livestock show staging announcements, and much more.

Youth on state fair show committee - apply today to become a youth member on a state fair show committee. This is for youth in grades 9 through one year post high school. Apply by Sept. 15 for a position starting in early October.

Learn about changes to Citizenship Washington Focus (CWF)

Registration for Citizenship Washington Focus, a week-long trip to Washington, DC, will open in fall 2018 for the summer 2019 experience. Youth gain civic engagement skills while touring DC with youth from across the US! Complete a short survey to receive a reminder email when registration material is posted.

Nominate a 4-H volunteer for Salute to Excellence

Volunteers give much to the Minnesota 4-H program! Consider nominating an outstanding volunteer for a 2019 4-H Salute to Excellence Award. All nomination materials are due by Sept. 15, 2018.

Attend SS&W and ATV fall leader certification training

Fall 2018 SS&W leader certification training materials are now posted! Adults and youth (9th grade and older) are invited to attend this Sept. 29-30 training at the Gopher Campfire Conservation Club in Hutchinson. Be prepared for the new 4-H year with trained volunteers - register by Sept 12!

Plan to attend annual volunteer training this fall

Powerful things happen for youth when they’re in a positive relationship with caring adults. The 2018 annual volunteer training, “4-H Grows Relationships,” will ready youth and adult volunteers to connect to young people in meaningful ways. Watch for dates and locations across the state this fall and plan to bring a team of youth and adult volunteers.

All hands on deck for the 4-H Food Stand

Why Are all 4-H families Asked to work in the Food Stand? Stevens County 4-H has 3 fundraisers each year: 4-H Livestock Auction, 4-H Food Stand and Horticulture Night Food Stand. These fundraisers completely fund the county-wide 4-H program. With the funds raised at the events, we are able to offer all 4-H events such as Adventures, Camps, State Fair, team activities, and more at a very discounted rate to our 4-H members. These funds are also used for things such as awards, scholarships, contests, trainings, meetings, and more. Each family is to work your club’s shift! All parents and 4-Hers are expected to work their shift. If you are unable to work your shift, switch with a family from another club.

Pre and post fair clean up: all families needed

Each 4-H Club is assigned a clean up time before or after the fair, to help divide the workload of setting up for our largest event of the year! Check out what time your club is scheduled and join us!
