4-H

  • Project Bowl Practices Kick Off
The second-largest-attended event during the 4-H year is the Project Bowl competition. Members do NOT need to own an animal or have any prior experience to participate!  It challenges youth in their knowledge of certain 4-H project areas.  If you are interested in helping coach or are a member who would like to join a team, please contact Justin Crowley  for more information. Teams have been formed in the following areas and the details for when/where to meet are also below.  If you’re interested in joining, contact the office, or stop by a meeting to check it out!
  • Poultry Informational Meeting
Poultry Knowledge Bowl teams are starting to organize and practice. With the first practice, there will be an informational meeting. All are welcome. This meeting will be a good place to learn about how this program works and get to know those involved in the project.
  • Poultry Workshop
If you or your 4-Her are interested in learning the basics of purchasing and caring for poultry for 4-H, attend this workshop where 4-H members in the poultry project share their knowledge. Now is the time to start preparing for your 2019 Wright County Fair poultry projects.  Great opportunity for beginners!
  • Awards & Recognition Banquet
This is a special evening for family, friends, and 4-Hers of all ages and experience levels. Our theme this year is Game of Life! Games will start at 6:00 PM. The program will start at 6:30 PM.  The cost is $3 per person, and includes a catered meal by KFC.
  • Apply for National 4-H Conference
2019 National 4-H Conference - not familiar? check out the website, or let's chat!  The conference is a yearly opportunity for 4-H members across the US to gather together and discuss issues that face youth and communities. Participants are involved in researching issues of importance in our communities and then working together with other youth to develop and deliver a presentation to a federal department or agency about what they should do to address that issue, from a youth perspective. It is an incredible experience and an opportunity to empower youth to get involved in making positive changes in their communities!

County Agriculture Educator

  • Farm Resource Guide Available
The Farm Resource Guide for 2018 is now available upon request at many University of Minnesota Extension County offices across the state. This resource guide includes a variety of useful farm business management information.
  • MN Land Rental Rates
This publication provides a historical perspective on rental rates paid by a group of Minnesota farmers and trends in those rental rates over the past five years. This information is meant as a guide and starting point. The information and data is not meant to establish, determine, set, fix, or even hint at what actual rents should be. It is simply a reporting of historical land rental rates in Minnesota.
  • FINBIN Report on MN Farm Finances
The 2,306 Minnesota farms included in the FINBIN database represent a broad cross-section of Minnesota production agriculture. While there is no “typical” Minnesota farm, these farms include a large enough sample to provide a good barometer of commercial farming in Minnesota. FINBIN data is provided by farms that participate in Minnesota State Farm Business Management Education programs and the Southwestern Minnesota Farm Business Management Association. These farms represent about 3 percent of the farms in the state and 14% of commercial farms with sales of over $250,000.
