4-H clover 4-H Adult Workforce Re-entry Scholarship 2022 recipient spotlight: Julie Hellendrung

Julie Hellendrung from Brown County was the recipient of the 4-H Adult Workforce Re-entry Scholarship in 2022.

Her involvement with 4-H as a youth sparked a lifelong passion for horses. As an adult, Julie became a 4-H volunteer and co-leader of the Golden Rose Riders 4-H Club, where she shared knowledge of horses and riding with 4-H youth and her community. 4-H has also positively impacted her family’s life, especially her children, who have learned and accomplished so much from their 4-H participation.

Julie was awarded $3,000 for workforce training. Her intention for continuing her education was to grow her skills in computer technology as a potential for job advancement. The award gave her the opportunity to take courses at South Central College in Mankato to earn administrative office specialist certificates in client relations and business software. Having reached her goal of completing two certificates, Julie chose to continue in pursuit of an Associate of Applied Science for administrative office specialist.

Julie commented, “I did not seek other employment, but I am getting recognition for the education I received. I also am more satisfied with myself and the goals I have obtained.”
