What is the 4-H Dog Training Program? Goodhue County 4-H Dog Training is a dog agility, obedience, showmanship, and rally obedience program in the spring/summer for youth and their dogs! The training is taught by 4-H Adult Volunteers who have expertise with dog training. Through 4-H Dog Training, participants will learn basic dog obedience and agility skills and will get to teach their own dogs first-hand!
Participants will learn to communicate with their dogs, respect each other and work together as a team, and will learn responsible dog ownership. Training will also cover care of dogs, feeding, dog facts, dos and don’ts, and much more! Best of all, participants will learn how to develop a positive relationship with their own dogs! At the end of the summer, participants will demonstrate what they’ve learned at the 4-H County Dog Show while being evaluated by a judge.
WHO: Youth in Grades K-13, Cloverbuds (grades K-2) must have
a responsible person in control of the dog at all times. This is
either an older youth or the parent/guardian. Cloverbuds may
participate in Obedience, Rally Obedience and Showmanship
ONLY.

Obedience, Rally Obedience, Agility & Showmanship Training start for everyone May 15 -July 24 at 6:30 p.m.
WHERE: Wednesdays, 6:30 pm - Cannon Valley Fairgrounds, Cannon Falls, Minnesota
COST: $20/participant (regardless of the # of dogs they are training) includes obedience, rally and showmanship. $20 foragility. Payable to Goodhue County 4-H
REGISTER: Register by completing the registration form by Monday, May 6th. Registration will not be considered complete until payment has been received in the Extension Office.
2024 Important Dates:
May 6: Deadline - Dog ID Form due to the Extension Office - ID form must be in the extension office prior to first practice.
May 8: Orientation for all participants NO DOGS
May 15: Obedience, Rally Obedience and Showmanship training begins and continues every Tuesday at the Cannon Valley Fairgrounds
May 15: State Dog ID deadline, due to Extension office
July 4: Dog Demonstration at the Cannon Valley Fair
July 27 – Agility and Rally Obedience Show, Cannon Valley Fairgrounds
