Utility Programs

These are programs that we have found useful. They are placed here for your ease of access. Some of the programs are free for use by educational institutions, which includes Extension, and others are shareware or trial versions. Please scan the licensing information and pay for software that you use.

Adobe Acrobat Reader ver. 5.05 (Windows 98/ME/NT/2000) (8.8 MB self-installing file)
Adobe® Acrobat® Reader is free, and freely distributable, software that lets you view and print Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) files. With Acrobat Reader, you also can fill in and submit PDF forms online, as well as download encrypted content from the Web and unlock it with Web Buy.

NOTE: If you need the ability to CREATE PDF documents, you will need to purchase the Adobe Acrobat software for $99 (available through the U of MN bookstore).

Palm Desktop ver. 4.0.1 (Windows) (7.59MB self-installing file)
Palm Desktop is the base for meetingmaker synchronization for Palm-based PDAs. For synchronization to work, you will need to: uninstall meetingmaker, install the Palm Desktop, then reinstall meetingmaker.

WinZip ver. 8.0 (Windows 98/ME/NT/2000) (1.2 MB self-installing file)
WinZip brings the convenience of Windows to the use of Zip files and other archive and compression formats. The optional wizard interface makes unzipping easier than ever. WinZip features built-in support for popular Internet file formats, including CAB, TAR, gzip, Unix compress, UUencode, BinHex, and MIME. ARJ, LZH, and ARC files are supported via external programs. WinZip interfaces to most virus scanners.

After using this evaluation version for the defined trial period, the user must purchase a licensed copy or remove the evaluation version from their system.
