NOTE: The Meeting Maker
software has already been installed on the county laptops purchased by
Extension. If you are setting up a county laptop purchased by Extension, skip to
the instructions under “SETUP”.
NOTE FOR PEOPLE WITH
PALM-compatible DEVICES: Palm Desktop must be installed first if you’re going
to sync your schedule with your Palm OS device (ex. Palm, Handspring, Sony
CLIE, etc.). This can be acquired
through http://www.palm.com. Go to http://www.handspring.com
specifically for Handspring devices, or http://www.ita.sel.sony.com/support/clie/
for Sony Clie devices. If you already have Meeting
Maker installed (laptop) and purchase\install a Palm OS-compatible device
later, instructions on how to configure Meeting Maker are available at the end
of this handout.
INSTALLATION:
1.
The Meeting Maker
software is available for you to download from the Extension Internal Website.
Go to: http://www.extension.umn.edu/units/cets/it/software/
and click on the link for “Internet and Utility”.
2.
Click on
“73_win_client_en.exe” (Meeting Maker Client)
3.
If you are
prompted to Save or Run the file, click on Save. Save the file to the Desktop.
4.
Once downloaded,
double-click on the file (73_win_client_en.exe) on the Desktop.
5.
Accept all
defaults in the installation when prompted by clicking on the Next button. When the installation is done, click on the
Finish button.
6.
Close the Readme file.
SETUP:
1.
Load the Meeting
Maker software.
2.
The Meeting Maker
Login box will appear.
3.
Name: Your username
is your first initial and lastname (eg. Kmatthes).
4.
Password: Your
initial password is welcome.
5.
Time Zone: If a
time zone is not selected, click on the Select button next to “Time Zone”. Find
“USA Central (USA)” in the list, highlight it and click OK.
6.
Server: Click on
the Select button next to “Server:” (even if something is already listed).
7.
Click on the
Configure button in the Select Server window.
This brings up a host list.
8.
The only address
in the host list should be 134.84.92.152
9.
Click OK.
10.
In the Select
Server window, under “Select Server:”, “Extension_MM”
should appear after a few seconds.
11.
Highlight “Extension_MM” by clicking on it once and click on the
Select button.
12.
Click on the Sign
On button.
We encourage you to change your
password, by going to the Edit Menu within Meeting Maker and selecting
preferences. Password" should be
one of the first things you see in the Preferences window.

HOW TO SET UP MEETING
MAKER TO SYNCHRONIZE WITH YOUR PALM-COMPATIBLE
DEVICE:
NOTE: You can skip these
instructions unless you are planning to set-up MeetingMaker
to synchronize with your Palm-compatible device.
If you have MeetingMaker already set up and have purchased a Palm-compatible
device such as product from Palm, Handspring, or Sony, you can have the ability
to synchronize your calendar between the Palm device and MeetingMaker.
This procedure explains how
to install the MeetingMaker Palm conduits on an
existing MeetingMaker installation.
1. Go to the Start Menu ->
Settings -> click on Control Panel
2. Within the Control Panel
window double-click on "Add or Remove Programs"
3. Within the "Add or
Remove Programs" window there is a list of currently installed
programs. Locate MeetingMaker
within that list and highlight it (click on it once). Then click on the Change/Remove button.
4. Click on the OK button to
remove the MeetingMaker program. Your schedule will not be affected by
this.
5. Load the Palm Desktop
software that came with your PDA. If no software was supplied with your PDA,
you can download the software from:

6. Once downloaded and
installed, reinstall MeetingMaker (see How to: Install & Set Up MeetingMaker)
7. Once you have installed
the Palm Desktop and then the MeetingMaker software,
you need to modify the palm desktop conduit:
1.
From the HotSync
Manager menu, choose custom
2.
Double-click the meetingmaker datebook conduit
3.
Enter your
Meeting Maker password and click OK
4.
Double-click the meetingmaker Address and meetingmaker
ToDo conduits and enter your Meeting Maker password
5.
Click Done
Attach
the cable or cradle from your PDA to your computer. Find the
"HotSync" icon on the PDA screen, tap on the application icon, then tap once more on the larger icon to start synching. At
the end of the operation, your PDA should be synched to MeetingMaker
on your PC. Call the IT Helpdesk if you have any problems.
