EOT August Shooting Sports & Wildlife Update

As of now, everyone who is planning on participating in the State Invitational in Fairmont, MN during
September 8-10 should have turned in their registration packets to Jodi Holtti. Now we can spend the
next few weeks honing our skills!

As a reminder, there is a new footwear requirement for members participating in any of the rifle or
pistol events at the Invitational. According to the policy ONLY low-cut street type or light weight
athletic shoes are permitted, and they must not extend above the ankle. This is a new policy, so to
avoid any last-minute stress at the Invitational, remember to pack a pair of regular tennis shoes to wear
while participating. Unfortunately this means that you cannot wear boots or high top tennis shoes if
you plan to participate in the rifle or pistol events.

We will also begin to work on our Wildlife Project over the next few weeks, so if you have any ideas, let
your coaches know.

In other news, we have been told that the Deer Creek Rod and Gun Club is thinking about expanding
their area right next to where we currently practice to make an archery range. This is great news for us,
since we are already a bit cramped for space, so we may look at rearranging where each discipline
practices in the near future.

Since we will be able to accommodate more members, it also means that we are in need of more
volunteer instructors! You don’t need to be an expert, you just need to be willing to work with our
youth. There are typically training sessions held in the fall and spring, so stay tuned for more
information on when and where those will be held.
