Now Accepting Applications for Camp Counselors for 2017!

Wadena, Hubbard, and EOT run Northern Pines 4-H camp for two nights/ three days near Park Rapids! 

This is an incredibly fun opportunity to develop leadership skills that will last a life time and have a blast doing it.

To become a camp counselor, please download and fill out this application. It is due to the Extension Office by February 10th.

Here are more camp details...


  • Camp – June 4-6th, 2017 at Northern Pines Camp near Park Rapids, MN. 
  • Campers will have completed grades 3rd-6th. 
  • Counselors need to have completed grades 9-12th. 
  • Twenty counselors will be needed for this 4-H camp, at least 4 males.  Counselors will have a mandatory training on Saturday, April 8th from 9 am to 9 pm at Northern Pines Camp and will need to report to camp on the afternoon of June 3rd.  The Camp Counselor Training is a mandatory training.

As a Camp counselor, you will pick one of three tracks to help lead..

  • Track #1 - Cabin/Small Group Leader: Will plan and implement activities focused around a smaller group of campers: cabin activities, flag raising/lowering, campfire/songs, and free-time     
  • Track #2 - Large Group Leader: Will plan and implement activities focused around a larger group of campers: evening programs, a large group game, group mixers and free-times.
  • Track #3 - Teen Teacher: Will select and implement the breakout sessions with an adult volunteer or 4-H staff personnel.  This year’s theme will be “Survivor”! Teen teachers will also plan meal-time table fun and lead a service project.


  • The cost of being a camp counselor is ½ of the $50 training cost, which is a total of $25. If selected to be a counselor, you will not pay any fees beyond this. Please do not make a payment for counselor training until you have been notified of your selection as camp counselor.  If you want to be a camp counselor but this fee creates financial hardship, please talk with Kelsey.
