The 4-H Incredible Exchange celebrates a summer of service

At the end of August, youth, parents, and mentors gathered at Clyde Iron Works for the 2nd annual 4-H Incredible Exchange Celebration. The celebration was an opportunity for youth to reflect on their service in the community and to be recognized for their work. Mayor Emily Larsen led the celebration with a keynote address on the importance of service work in the community and the impact 4-H Incredible Exchange volunteers have. Her speech was followed by a reflection activity, where youth were invited to talk with their peers in the program and write or draw their experience. Youth reflected on questions such as, what did you accomplish with your service? What impact did your service have on the community? What did you learn? What impact did your service have on you? Youth and mentors were invited to share out their answers, which included building friendships, impacting other youth, learning leadership skills, and taking on new challenges.

The event concluded with an awards ceremony, where youth participants received a certificate of completion. Youth, parents, and mentors stayed afterward to celebrate and enjoyed an assortment of hors d'oeuvres.
