This workshop provides aquatic plant identification training for people of all skill levels. Whether you are new to learning about plants or a seasoned professional wanting to hone your skills, you’ll find helpful aquatic plant identification information.
Learn how to identify lake and wetland plants using live samples. We will have species representing native and invasive, broad- and narrow-leaved pondweeds, macroalgae, submersed plants, floating-leaf plants and emergent plants, among others.
The workshop is hosted in partnership with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
There is an optional test at the end of the session. Consultants who complete the workshop, pass the test, and qualify to be on the DNR listing of Surveyors of Aquatic Plants in Lakes, will be acknowledged on the Minnesota DNR website. Non-professionals also are welcome to take the test.
If you are a beginner, we strongly encourage you to attend the optional 8 a.m. introduction to aquatic plant identification session.
Participants may purchase a copy of one of the following identification guides, offered at a discount for workshop participants when you register:
$75
$40 for the identification guide of your choice (optional)
