Sign-up for the 2019 Science of Agriculture Challenge!

Three youth working on Science of Agriculture Challenge project

The Minnesota 4-H Science of Agriculture Challenge is a program where 4-H youth work on teams of 2 - 5 to identify an agricultural issue in their communities and come up with ideas for a solution. Teams work with a volunteer mentor from the topic area they chose and with one or more adult volunteer coaches. Teams use science and engineering practices to guide their project and create a presentation to share in their communities.

Teams attend a state event in early summer at the University of Minnesota campus where they connect with industry experts, have a campus immersion experience and present their projects to youth and adults.

Teams have the chance to win scholarships ranging from $500 to $1,000 for each member of the team.

The Science of Agriculture Challenge is a great way for 4-H’ers to work together to make a difference in their communities and greater Minnesota! 4-H’ers develop communication, problem solving, decision making and teamwork skills while learning about careers connected to agriculture, natural resources, technology and more!

Team sign-up for the 2019 Challenge is due by Friday, Feb. 1, 2019.
