Danielle Holmes honored as Minnesota 4-H Volunteer of the Year

Danielle Holmes of Moorhead has received the 2019 Minnesota 4-H Salute to Excellence Volunteer of the Year Award. The award is given to an individual who has volunteered for 4-H less than 10 years and selected from nominees across the state.

In nominating Danielle for the award, Lisa Kasson-Bauer, Clay County 4-H program coordinator, shared that Danielle has been an effective club leader, working with a co-leader to empower youth to conduct meetings more independently, deliver public presentations, and lead community service projects. As an Engineering Design Challenge coach, she encouraged youth to come up with their own designs and used open-ended questions to guide youth to find their own solutions. Kasson-Bauer stated, “Danielle has a gift for giving youth information and presenting it in a way that makes the young people curious and want to explore. She has utilized her organizational skills, science education and work experience to the benefit of youth in Clay County. Her efforts have helped numerous 4-Hers gain knowledge and experience in STEM as well as leadership and citizenship.”

Danielle was chosen by a panel of judges from an outstanding list of nominees. As the Minnesota honoree, she advances to the north central region judging. Congratulations Danielle!
