Keep youth safe - participating in winter activities

Wintertime provides great opportunities for 4-H clubs and groups to enjoy the outdoors through a variety of activities and outings. These activities may also involve varying levels of risk. Ensure 4-H members and volunteers stay safe by following the “keeping youth safe” guidelines and policies.

Note that special activities insurance must be taken out for some activities that are not covered by our annual group accident insurance. These activities are noted in the guidelines. Contact your 4-H program coordinator to secure this insurance.

  • Some activities are only allowed if conducted by another entity and some are not allowed. Both of these categories are listed in the guidelines and policies.
  • All youth must be enrolled as 4-H members to participate in these activities and outings.

Use the risk management planning tool before the activity or outing occurs and contact your 4-H program coordinator if you have any questions.
