    Prepare for County Fair: May 15th Deadline

    It’s never too early to prepare for the county fair! With that, we have a new deadline on the horizon. May 15th is the deadline for enrollment and Animal ID’ing. These can be completed in 4HOnline. Similarly, animal lease information must be submitted in 4HOnline by this date.

    2019 animal science lease information is now available

    Minnesota 4-H allows the leasing of animal science projects to ensure that all members have the opportunity to experience the showing of livestock projects. Animal science lease information has been updated for 2019 and is available on our website.

    Register for the 2019 Minnesota 4-H Engineering Design Challenge!

    Team registrations are now open for the 2019 Minnesota 4-H Engineering Design Challenge! The challenge is designed for youth in grades 3 - 12 and provides an opportunity for youth to problem solve while using their imaginations, working with others and having a fun experience!

    Save the date for YELLO!

    The State Ambassadors are asking youth in grades 6+ to save the date for the 2019 YELLO! youth leadership conference. The conference will take place June 11-14 in St. Paul. Registration will open by April 1.

    2019 Minnesota 4-H scholarships available for college-bound 4-H youth

    Extension development and Minnesota 4-H offer several scholarships for 4-H youth who are pursuing post-secondary studies at accredited colleges and universities. Over $20,000 is awarded annually through a competitive application process. All applications are due to the Extension development office by April 1.

    Attend spring 2019 SS&W Leader Certification Training

    4-H SS&W Leader Certification Trainings will be held April 6-7 in Isanti County and April 27-28 in Jordan. These trainings are designed for adults and youth that lead or would like to lead training in shooting sports, wildlife, or ATV safety. Deadlines for registering for the trainings are March 20 and April 10. Disciplines fill quickly, so make sure registration forms are sent in early!

    Interested in showing livestock this year?

    Did you get a new pet bunny? Or maybe you have always dreamed of raising your own calf? 4-H has a class for that! For all 4-Hers interested in showing cattle, dog, goats, horse, lama, poultry, sheep, swine or rabbits, now is the time to start your planning!

    2019 Dairy Calf Leasing Program

    Learn more about the dairy beef industry by raising a dairy beef calf to show at the 2019 Wilkin County Fair! This leasing program is open to youth of all ages (K-13), youth must be enrolled in the Wilkin County 4-H program to participate. Youth will attend three project meetings, during which they learn to select, care for, and show their calves. Calves are available for purchase or can be returned following the County Fair.
